Deadman's Hole
Location: Marble Falls , TX

History: Deadman's Hole is located just a few miles outside of Marble Falls, Texas. The hole has been used as a dumping grounds for dead bodies since the time of the civil war. Legend has it that at least 17 men were thrown into the hole, and some being still alive. But that is legend, I can find no proof. There are a few websites that share some factual stories, like bodies being discarded from individuals from the hanging tree, as well as Union soldiers. One notable story is that of Benjamin McKeever who fired shots a dog for trying to bite his horse, when he missed the dog, he went for the owner (also missing.) The owner of the dog was a black man. The year was 1872 and knowing local authorities would do nothing, the man and his friends took revenge on McKeever. When Benjamin went missing, his body was extracted from the hole.
