Location: Gainesville, TX
History: From the owner: " The town of Gainesville was formed in 1852. By 1886 there were from 1
to 2 thousand residents. I have seen a city map from 1883 that shows
the house on it. I haven't been able to trace the deed very far as it
was part of a parcel of tracts that fail to mention actual houses. I've
spent the last two days between the courthouse, the museum and the
Gainesville P&Z building. The town has a fascinating history including "The Great Hangings of 1862.""
Background: We were invited to conduct an investigation at a home in Gainesville, Texas. This little town is just outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, but holds so much history. The floor plan has been modified over the years, and has now transformed into three separate apartments for rent.
Case Notes: We arrived at the property around 5:00 p.m., and began a short tour with Linda. We were already uncomfortable the moment we walked through the door; the air conditioning units were unsuccessful at cooling down this extremely hot house. It was difficult to breathe.
As we went up the stairs to the second floor, Linda again explained to us how much trouble it had been to keep the space rented. Tenants would leave quite suddenly, and with a really “good” explanation; of course, none of the reasons ever included being haunted. Some renters were in such a rush, they often left their belongings behind. The last tenant who made a quick exit left the comfy couch they now use downstairs to rest when working on home improvements.

A large sunroom was located on the second floor. Upon first appearances, it seemed cheery and bright. Closer inspections found strange markings above most of the windows, upside-down crosses. We don't take signs such as these lightly. It could be a sign left behind by careless kids, strange carpenter markings or remenants of the spirtual ideologies held by recent tenents.
Shortly thereafter, leaving another room on the second floor, two investigators both felt sick on the small, adjacent landing between the spaces. They stated the feeling lasted only around a minute. At that same time, another investigator was outside filming the very window leading to the same spot. She stated she felt drawn to film that particular window at that moment. All of this was discovered during later conversations between investigators.
Cameras were operational by approximately 9:00 p.m., and we went lights out. The investigation lasted until 4:00 a.m. We caught an amazing number of EVPs, each delivered with such clarity. You are sure to hear voices that will leave you with the knowledge this is definitely a haunted home. As for video, we didn’t catch anything, but you can see the portion where two investigators claim to be touched. Personal Experiences: As for personal experiences, we have a very long list. Two investigators were both touched in one of the upstairs bedrooms. One investigator had a bloody nose that started in the same room; by the way, she has never had a bloody nose before in her entire life. Although nose bleeds can occur in extreme dry heat, the humidity was measured at 89 percent that day, hardly dry. These were the most significant personal experiences, but we all had trouble breathing throughout the night due to the oppressive heat and heaviness upstairs. There was mention at one point of the smell of sulfur.
