History: The GHoT team decided to drive out to the Devil's backbone area to see if we could validate the ghost stories surrounding this reportedly very haunted area. One of the stories in this area is regarding a ghost of a man seen walking and sometimes waving down traffic on Purgatory road. The story goes a gentlemen was driving down the road, had been drinking, lost control of his car and veered off the road. The exact location is not known, but it is reported that the police force often responds to 911 calls of people seeing a man waving them down.
Case notes:
April 2007 - We had two vehicles on the road. We drove down to 306 at the speed limit, turned around and then back to RR 12. We went drove separately going extremely slow end to end on the road and while driving back turned off lights and paused when there were no cars on the road. We also had the IR camera rolling. We didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
October 2008 - We picked a location on the road with the Atlas media crew and conducted an investigation using our video IR cameras, emf, digital cameras and voice recorders. No one had any personal experiences while investigating, but we did manage to catch some class c EVP's.
